New IPTA students entering in September or October 2026 may qualify for a one-off RM500 domestic-flight assistance payment when travelling between specified Malaysian regions to register for studies. The Ministry of Transport (MOT) requires eligible students to submit their documents by 31 October 2026. This is not an automatic payment for every first-year student, nor is it the regular FLYsiswa RM400 ticket voucher.

Information checked 12 October 2026 against the MOT official FAQ.

Who is eligible?

The official scheme is for Malaysian citizens who accepted an offer for a public university (Universiti Awam) through UPUonline or a Premier Polytechnic under KPT, entering in September or October 2026. They must need domestic air travel between eligible combinations of Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan to register for their studies.

Example Why it matters
Johor resident entering a qualifying UA in Sarawak Peninsular-to-Sarawak travel; check the portal for individual eligibility
Sabah resident entering a qualifying university in KL Sabah-to-Peninsular travel; check the portal
Sarawak resident entering a qualifying institution in Sabah Sarawak-to-Sabah travel may qualify
Johor resident entering a local university in Johor No qualifying inter-region flight in the example
Private-university student Do not presume eligibility under this specific UA/Premier Polytechnic scheme

How to apply before 31 October: six steps

  1. Use the official MOT Bantuan Siswa portal.
  2. Enter the applicant's MyKad number, institution and security response to check eligibility.
  3. Where eligible, complete the form using an active bank account in the student's own name.
  4. Upload an accepted offer/admission letter, front and back of MyKad, and a bank statement or bank-book copy showing the student's name and account number.
  5. The live form accepts PDF/JPG/PNG with a 5MB limit per uploaded file. Recheck legibility and account details before submission.
  6. Monitor the status on the same official site; respond to any request for corrections before the deadline.

Never send identity-card images or bank statements to strangers or unofficial social media accounts offering to process the payment. MOT provides flysiswacares@mot.gov.my for enquiries.

How will RM500 be paid?

Once MOT has received and validated complete documents, the one-off RM500 is paid to the eligible student's own bank account. Parent, guardian or friend accounts are not accepted. The FAQ does not promise an identical payment date for everyone.

RM500 special assistance vs FLYsiswa

Programme Announced value How it works
2026 one-off new-IPTA-student aid RM500 once Sep–Oct new students meeting scheme conditions; bank transfer after verification; 31 Oct submission deadline
FLYsiswa 2026 RM400 ticket voucher Eligible students under a broader institution list; applied to qualifying inter-region economy flights
FLYsiswa MADANI 2027 Increase to RM500 announced Future annual programme; 2027 rules to be checked separately

The 2026 FLYsiswa conditions set out voucher phases, eligible airlines and dates. Do not assume the two 2026 benefits can automatically be combined; ask MOT about any overlapping entitlement.
