Malaysia's Budget 2027 announced an increase in Bantuan Awal Persekolahan (BAP, Early Schooling Aid) from RM150 to RM200 per eligible pupil. The government estimates around 5.3 million pupils will benefit. The Budget speech specifically says the aid will be distributed through schools, with parents encouraged to attend and meet teachers.

What is not yet established as of 13 October 2026: a nationwide 2027 payment date, the final detailed eligibility and school categories, and the exact collection arrangements at each school. See the official Budget 2027 speech.

Who qualifies for RM200 BAP in 2027?

The headline is RM200 per eligible student, not RM200 per household. Although the announced programme is broad, it does not mean every child enrolled in any private or international institution has been individually approved.

Previous Ministry of Education (KPM) arrangements have used schools to administer BAP. KPM's 2026 information describes an extension to Form Six (Tingkatan Enam) in recent years. The specific 2027 grade coverage, education institutions and documentation rules must still follow KPM's final announcement.

Student situation What families should check
Eligible primary-school pupil The school's KPM BAP notification and verification process
Eligible secondary-school pupil The official school list and any required parent/guardian details
Form Six student The separate applicable 2027 BAP and Form Six rules
Private or international school Do not assume inclusion without explicit official confirmation
Student changing schools Ask the schools which one will verify and distribute the aid

Do not import the B40/STR income criteria from unrelated assistance programmes; look for the actual 2027 BAP eligibility document.

How much for families with 1, 2, 3 or 4 eligible children?

Number of eligible pupils Calculation Illustrative household amount
1 1 × RM200 RM200
2 2 × RM200 RM400
3 3 × RM200 RM600
4 4 × RM200 RM800

The Budget itself uses four eligible children = RM800 as an example. The important phrase is eligible children. The table is not an approval notification for any particular family.

When will schools pay BAP 2027?

A nationwide exact payment date has not been confirmed as of 13 October 2026. The official Budget states that distribution will take place through schools.

Do not confuse that with a promised direct transfer to every parent's bank account or a government website that is already open for 2027 collection. The eventual process may involve official parent notifications, identity checks or specified collection slots, but families must follow the actual KPM and school instructions.

Five things parents can do now

  1. Confirm your children's next-year enrolment details and the school contact number held for parents or guardians.
  2. Monitor official school notices and KPM updates, not screenshots from unknown accounts.
  3. Check the actual required identification or guardian documents once the school announces the process.
  4. Ask the school directly in cases of transferred students or special guardianship arrangements.
  5. Avoid unofficial registration links requesting MyKad or bank details before a verified process exists.

Is the RM200 BAP the same as the RM2,500 Form Six allowance?

No. The same Budget 2027 separately announced a RM2,500 Form Six living allowance, while BAP is RM200 in early schooling assistance per eligible pupil. Each programme has its own rules and objective; eligibility for one should not automatically be taken as eligibility for the other.

Likewise, BAP is different from STR, SARA and Rancangan Makanan Tambahan (RMT).

A realistic way to plan the money

Suppose a household has three pupils who ultimately qualify: that could mean RM600 in schooling support. It may help with needed uniforms, shoes, stationery, schoolbags or other school-related costs. Prices and actual needs vary.

Plan essentials first and avoid counting the amount as already received before the school confirms entitlement and distribution.

FAQ

Is BAP 2027 definitely announced at RM200 per eligible pupil?

Yes, that is the Budget 2027 announcement; implementation details follow.

Does every family with four children get RM800?

Only if all four children qualify under the final rules.

Is BAP paid at school or directly into an account?

The Budget explicitly says through schools. Await actual distribution instructions.

What is the exact payment day?

A nationwide date was not established in the announcement reviewed.

Can non-B40 families get it?

Do not apply STR or SARA income tests to BAP. Check the final KPM criteria.

Can Form Six pupils also receive BAP?

Review the 2027 BAP and the distinct Form Six allowance rules; do not infer automatic simultaneous eligibility.

JomGuide's take

The RM200 headline is useful, but parents really need three practical answers: does my child qualify, when will the school distribute it, and which documents are needed? Wait for school and KPM notices before sharing personal information.
